On the 15th of December, in an effort to raise awareness about Sustainable Development Goals, a spoken word performance with the theme ‘Listen’ and a visual arts exhibition ‘Roots’ was held at Little Soho, Jalan Batu Bersurat. This event was jointly organised by HeartWrite, Kaleidoscope and MYActionsForSDGs.

In the midst of paintings and different art forms, 10 selected original pieces were read aloud by the poets. The inspiration behind these poems and art were the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in an attempt to increase people’s ability to emphasize with our people and planet through literature and the creative arts.

One poem entitled “The Sky, The Ocean and The Land” enlightened the audience about the need for climate action while instilling hope. Another poem “Forgotten Memories Past and Present” told of the importance of understanding old age and dementia, supporting Goal 3- Good Health and Well-Being.

The event also featured local artists such as Hariz Khalid, Wan Zahidah Metussin, Azmina Ahmad and Maziyah Yussof.
